Here is a quick and easy way to make your own baby shower invitations so that you can match the theme of your shower to the invitation. It is a great way to save money and people love seeing the creative ways to make homemade cards.
Supplies Needed:
*White Blank Note Cards with Envelopes
*Various sheets of 12x12 baby themed or pastel colored scrapbooking paper
*Glue sticks
*Baby themed sticker packs
*Party date rubber stamp with ink pad
*Embellishments: satin ribbon, mini silk flowers, buttons, beads, charms, etc.
*Liquid glue pen (only if adhering any of the above embellishments)
Scissors and Ruler
* You will need to decide if you are going to cover just the fronts and backs of your note cards with pretty scrapbooking paper or if you are going to completely cover them, inside and out to determine how many sheets of scrapbooking paper you will need.
* You can find rubber stamps in the rubber stamp aisle at your local craft supply store that will have: Your Invited To A Baby Shower, Date and Time on them and you can use that to stamp the inside of your invitations. If you are trying to be frugal, you can certainly handwrite it out.
You will want to measure your note cards and cut out blocks from your scrapbooking paper to fit over top of the areas you want to cover up. Use the glue stick to on the back side of the scrapbooking paper and place the paper on top of the card. Let dry. Once you have your card covered with the desired amounts of paper it is time to decorate the front cover. You can use flat baby themed stickers or get really fancy and purchase some baby themed 3-dimensional sticker embellishments. To jazz up your invitations even more, glue on some satin ribbon trim, ribbon bows, beads, buttons, etc.
Use a rubber stamp on the inside of the invitation as an outline for you to print in your party details...or just simply do it all in your own handwriting. I would suggest that you use black ink which shows up really well against printed or pastel colored scrapbooking paper. If you have any leftover stickers you can use those to decorate the envelopes.
Just remember...the more embellishments and stickers you add onto your cards, the more it can raise the weight of them which would cost you more to mail out your invitations. Just something to keep in mind when decorating your invitations.
