Going Green with an Eco-Friendly Baby Shower

 

 

Many green parents today are planning green and eco-friendly baby showers. With the ever growing trend for healthy and organic foods and products, having a baby shower that focuses on the same is a neat way to celebrate the new mom to be and the new baby. Here are a few tips that you can look to for planning an eco-friendly baby shower.

** Paper Decorations, centerpieces and party favors should be axed. A true "eco-friendly" parent doesn't believe in the use of wasteful paper products. But a fabulous Diaper Cake would be an awesome Centerpiece and look for party favors that may incorporate food.

** The majority of food and beverages served at an eco-friendly baby shower are served on real plates with the use of metal utensils. Have a potluck where every guest (or selected guests) bring a dish to keep it more eco-friendly and to keep costs down if that is necessary.

** These days you can find beautiful baby blankets and baby clothing made from organic and/or eco-friendly materials. Let the guests know that you are having a "green" baby shower and give them some ideas on what type of gifts they can purchase. Not all of your guests are going to know what a green lifestyle is all about so give them a little history on it.

** If guests are going to be purchasing toys, books, baby furniture and baby accessories let them know that there are green and earth-friendly options available. Some department stores are now carrying eco-friendly baby products but if you are in a smaller area and can't find them, advise the guests to check out some great online baby stores.

** If you feel guests will have a hard time purchasing gifts for a green party you could have a diaper party where guests each bring a pack of organic cotton cloth diapers and stagger out a variety of cloth diaper sizes so that the new parents will be well-stocked with diapers.

Using some of these tips for a green baby shower, you are going to make sure that you will have fun and be organic focused at the same time.
